OCEAN FRESH SRI LANKA QUALITY PROCESS

The Freshest Seafood From The Indian Ocean

the approach we follow

Sustainability, Traceability and Quality

SUSTAINABILITY

At Ocean Fresh Seafood, we value the ocean’s riches and advocate for sustainable seafood sourcing. We understand that overfishing greatly impacts ocean wildlife. That’s why we’re committed to protecting the marine ecosystem, coastal communities, and our planet.

We’ve embedded sustainable practices throughout our supply chain. From using eco-friendly fishing techniques that minimise harm to protected species like dolphins and corals, to supporting the well-being of coastal communities, sustainability is at the core of our operations.

Our customers can enjoy wild seafood sourced sustainably, knowing they’ve made an environmentally conscious choice. Despite challenges, we’re dedicated to sustainable practices because they benefit livelihoods, human health, and the environment in significant ways.

TRACEABILITY

Today, more and more traders want to know where their seafood comes from, mainly because their consumers are asking for that information due to rising demand for sustainably sourced food. At Ocean Fresh Seafood, we ensure the traceability of seafood from the point of sale to its point of origin. Traceability is vital in assuring food safety as it proves legality and verifies sustainability.

We have an advanced tracking system in place to keep records and verify the identification of seafood. We ensure seafood traceability not only because it enables us to meet the mandatory regulatory standards but also because we believe that it strengthens our sustainable practices and helps us improve the ecosystem.

QUALITY

The increasing recognition of the health benefits of seafood compared to other forms of meat has led to a significant rise in seafood consumption globally. At Ocean Fresh Seafood, we place utmost importance on food safety as we are proud to supply fresh, high-quality seafood to meet the nutritional needs of people worldwide. Therefore, we have implemented rigorous measures to enhance the quality controls in our seafood production units. Despite the challenges of handling and shipping perishable products, we have adopted multiple proven strategies to ensure that our seafood meets the stringent quality standards expected by our global clientele.

Our operations, from fishing to packaging, are managed by experienced professionals who stay updated on the latest industry trends and technologies. Our best practices are continuously evolving to uphold the highest standards of quality and food safety.

Ocean Fresh Seafood specialises in exporting Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), Bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus), as well as Swordfish (Xiphias gladius), among many other fish varieties sourced from the Indian Ocean. The export quality is maintained in accordance with the standards set by the European Union (EU), which encompasses all processing operations related to fish. This includes stringent guidelines such as mandatory inspections conducted by authorised local bodies, including the Ministry of Fisheries and the Sri Lanka Standards Institute, on behalf of the EU.
